Cenex: Making sure no-one is left behind by micromobility

Cenex is an independent, low emission transport consultancy with a growing team of experts dedicated to shared and light mobility vehicles.

The advent of mobility hubs and the rapid development of micromobility vehicles means communities can benefit as well as the users.

Rural Mobility

Cenex is really excited to be getting involved with projects that look at shared transport opportunities in rural areas and smaller towns, such as our recent Local E-Motion project that assesses the viability and demand of mobility hubs and shared electric transport across Yorkshire.

Through community engagement and data analysis we have built a replicable business case tool to demonstrate the environmental economic and social benefits of deploying e-bike, e-scooter and EV car club schemes.

We are also doing some work with Midlands Connect in Derbyshire on how peer-to-peer sharing can be used in rural locations, via an online hub we have developed, to improve the uptake and usage of electric vehicles and chargepoints.

Mobility Hubs

Cenex has a wealth of experience in electric vehicle charging, strategy and policy which lends itself really nicely to supporting the development of mobility hubs.

As the number of public chargepoints increase, it is important to consider where and how they could be linked to shared services, such as car clubs, and encourage multimodal journeys with access different types of transport such as buses, trains and micromobility.

Transport planning anchored by mobility hubs will ensure the infrastructure is deployed in convenient locations, near to where people need them.

Why we are joining CoMoUK

CoMoUK has created a strong network of private operators, local authorities and communities that can feed into government to advise and lobby on policy across shared transport services and mobility hubs.

Cenex is working closely with stakeholders to develop roadmaps and regulation for micromobility that are safe and practical for riders and non-riders, both shared and privately owned.

Our research clearly shows there is the appetite for the rollout shared mobility schemes; it is important now that no-one is left behind.
