Re-imagining underused spaces with WorkfromHub

How we fit with shared transport

We see shared transport as an opportunity to take the chaos out of people's day, by co-locating different services which people need and providing choice. However, we want to stretch the idea beyond only transport and explore a wider range of services people need near to where they live. WorkfromHub creates an opportunity to reduce the need to travel, then encourage more sustainable travel choices from the hubs.

Developing a concept

Bringing a new concept to the market is hard. There are many unknowns, plenty of suggestions, and limited evidence to know if you are doing the right thing. For shared transport many of the individual components are existing in the UK or examples can be found in other parts of the world. The challenge is how to bring together each component in a way that suits the customers needs. WorkfromHub is embracing the need for piloting and experimentation to work with other suppliers in a range of settings to help understand what people really need. The next few years may feel like a chaotic experiment, but those that are willing to experiment are likely to be those that are the most successful. If you are running a shared mobility pilot, let us know as we’d love to get involved.

Working in an agile way

We believe in delivering shared mobility in an agile way. The agile method will see benefits delivered as early as possible, embrace experimentation, failure, and continuous improvement.

We suggest that the shared and new mobility options need to be implemented in a planned and controlled way, but in a way that the users can get to try and experience each component as it is ready to be used. We will be encouraging our partners and CoMoUK to explore how to help people experience shared mobility in a safe and fun way.

Why we joined CoMoUK

We are committed in supporting CoMoUK to share best practise and experiences from shared mobility and mobility hubs. CoMoUK has championed the shared mobility marketplace and has an important role to enable start-ups like us and global businesses to stand side-by-side to improve people’s access to high quality services. We also want to have an active role in evolving guidance and concepts which can help public and private sector partners to make more of their places.
