Car share case studies


Teviot Electric Car Club

The Teviot Electric Car Club (TECC) operates from the Scottish Borders town of Hawick. The service, which consists of two EVs, was launched in February 2020.



LEAP Car Club

The LEAP car club in Renfrewshire has cars placed in two diverse locations. Lochwinnoch is a village with good transport links into Glasgow. The main target group for the car club are individuals who would be able to dispose of (or avoid acquiring) a second vehicle. The second location is supported by the housing association that covers Linwood and Johnstone.



Huntly Green Travel Hub

Huntly and District Development Trust run the Huntly Green Travel Hub (HGTH) which includes three low emissions cars and 14 (soon to be 24) e-bikes. The organisation has a broader green initiative, including a farm and eco-bothy, sustainable regeneration, and work on active travel routes.



Car Bute

Car Bute is operated by Fyne Futures, a charity and not-for-profit on the Isle of Bute. It has one Toyota Yaris situated in the main town of Rothesay on the island. The car club has been operating since 2011.

Lift share case studies


Mull and Iona Lift-share

Mull and Iona Lift-share is a self-run Facebook group whose membership represents more than 15% of the island’s population. It was set up in July 2015 to encourage residents of the island to share car journeys, as an outcome of the Mull and Iona Sustainable Transport (MIST) project which explored a number of opportunities for promoting sustainable transport on the island.



Hayfield Community Transport

Hayfield Sustainable Transport Limited runs a pilot community transport service in Hayfield, Peak District, allowing a range of community groups to book minibuses, without each group needing to own one themselves. This reduces the expenditure on transport for these groups and makes more efficient use of the shared asset. HSTL has two 17-seater minibuses.
